I am looking forward to my 6th year as a Carver Colt. I began my career in PPCD as an instructional assistant for 4 years and served 1 year as a PPCD teacher before I moved to Kindergarten.
Family tradition took me to Abilene Christian University, which I graduated from in 1996 with an Interior Design degree. I found my true passion years later, teaching kids. Teaching has been an amazing journey for myself and I am always looking forward to building relationships and learning more to share for the success of our children. My credentials throughout the years of teaching are earning my Core Subjects Certification, (Early childhood-6th), Special Education (Early childhood-12th), Gifted and Talented and English as a Second Language.
One of my biggest accomplishments in my career is being selected as Teacher of the Year 2022-2023. Previous years have given me the opportunity to be nominated for Teacher of the Year (2020-2021) and named September Teacher of the Month (2021). These accomplishments have given me the opportunity to always challenge myself in many situations, continue to stay focused and motivated while reflecting on why I chose this amazing career.
I am a native Texan and found myself in Austin after graduating college. One of the many reasons I found myself in Austin is the local live music and all the outdoor activities to do with family and friends. I enjoy kayaking, yoga, meditation, hiking, cycling, pilates, coffee houses, music, sushi, starbucks, shopping (supporter of local businesses) and any sporting event. I am a HUGE sports fan, so if I am not working, you can catch me watching or going to any football, basketball, hockey, soccer, track and field or baseball game.
